An island paradise set partly in the shadows of the Pitons – twin mountain peaks that stand tall over the blue waters – St Lucia is a dreamy location with pastel-coloured buildings, sugar plantations and brilliant white sand beaches.
The Pitons themselves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are St Lucia landmarks. Sprawling below them, you’ll find so much to see and do. Visitors to St Lucia range from families to couples on their honeymoons. The island is wonderfully romantic and spectacularly beautiful, with fun attractions and opportunities for sightseeing and touring. Whales and dolphins swim off the coast and there are peaceful towns and sleepy villages where you’ll be able to drink, dine and shop amongst the friendly locals.
St Lucia is undeniably beautiful, with the world’s only drive-in volcano at Sulphur Springs and with the Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens home to the thundering Diamond Falls waterfall. The gardens are also home to warm mineral baths for relaxing afternoon. The heated baths are soothing for the body and are said to be therapeutic. The town of Soufrière is the oldest town on the island, and its market is a bustling hub where you’ll be able to purchase local crafts and specialities to take home as souvenirs. St Lucia is also a place for outdoor activities such as zip lining, sailing, water sports and horse riding.
Part of the appeal of St Lucia is that it’s a place where you can do very little, relaxing in spas and enjoying mineral baths, or simply lying back on the beach. If you’re looking to fill a holiday itinerary then you’ll be able to do so, however.
