4 MUST SEE OMAN HOLIDAY ATTRACTIONS

Initially, some people find it hard to believe that Oman is a luxury holiday destination. After all, it hasn’t always been that way. As recently as the 1960s and early 1970s, Oman was a country with very few visitors from beyond its borders. Now, Oman is an exciting holiday destination with majestic heritage sites, excellent tourist attractions and interesting traditions along with beautiful white sand beaches. Year-round high temperatures make Oman an indulgent winter holiday destination as well as a popular choice in the summer.

FOUR SPECTACULAR OMAN ATTRACTIONS:

The Bahla Fort

In the beautiful Oasis town of Bahla, the Bahla Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an inspiring landmark originally constructed in the 13th century. Some parts of the fort lie almost in ruin, whilst others look as though they have only just been created. A remarkable feat of engineering, the Bahla Fort is constructed of mud brick. Whilst visiting, be sure to set aside some time to explore Bahla’s souk.

Masirah Island

A haven for scuba divers and a place to experience the exhilarating thrill of kite surfing, Masirah Island is also home to four species of turtle. The turtles lay their eggs throughout the year on the beaches of Masirah Island, which means that a visit at any time will provide a good chance to see the turtles on the beach and their young heading out to the water. Masirah Island is surrounded by some strong currents, which means that the island is also dotted with ruins both below the surface of the water and up on the beaches, where boats have run aground.

Wahiba Sands

The sprawling orange landscape of the Wahiba Sands desert is a sight that you’ll never forget. The sunset is a breathtaking and awe-inspiring sight, and dune tours by jeep, horse or camel allow you to truly appreciate the splendour of this wide open space. A number of camps throughout the desert enable you to lie out under the stars on a warm night, with a variety of activities to enjoy. Some camps also include their own refreshing swimming pools.

The Binmah Sinkhole

Described as one of the most amazing places on Earth, the Binmah Sinkhole is a wonder to behold. Stare down into the azure and emerald waters from the surrounding rock, or make your way into them for a swim amongst the cliffs. Tranquil and soothing, the sinkhole is also home to fish that nibble at dead skin, similar to those used in fish pedicures throughout the world.
Oman is a remarkable and unforgettable luxury holiday destination with colour, beauty and a rich history.
